Mariposa International Projects, Inc. is dedicated to creating a healthier planet through global
unity, education, harmony and environmental balance.
February 2005 - Sharon Pruyne was inspired to form Mariposa after taking a trip into the Ecuadorian
Amazon, where she participated in a vision quest, with a great leader and healer of the low land Quichua people.
She stayed with them at their eco lodge in Istandi. Sharon recognized the great need for ecotourism as a way
for the people to preserve their culture and virgin land, while bringing them into the 21st century's demands
of providing for their families.
Sharon saw ways to share her knowledge with the communities, creating greater financial independence and
a healthier lifestyle. "Independence" is what the indigenous people want. They are a proud, hard-working,
family-oriented people, who are protecting both the rain forest and the culture. Sharon's plan is to integrate alternative
methods of organic gardening, permaculture and earth-honoring power sources into each and every eco lodge
throughout the world.
Please note that this website is in the process of being translated into both Spanish and Quichua.
